AR Mars Colony: Interactive Mars Colony Exhibit

An interactive Mars colony exhibit built around a changing settlement.

Overview

What would a settlement on Mars need to keep working? AR Mars Colony brings that question to a shared terrain table. Visitors arrange physical habitat and infrastructure models on a Martian landscape and watch digital activity respond around them.

The combination of objects, terrain and moving vehicles makes the colony something visitors can examine and change. It gives space galleries a hands-on starting point for conversations about homes, resources and connections in an unfamiliar environment.

The Visitor Experience

  1. Choose a model and place it on the Martian terrain table.
  2. Add or rearrange structures to change the settlement layout.
  3. Watch digital vehicles move across the surface and adjust their routes around new obstacles.
  4. Compare the new arrangement and continue developing the colony.

What Visitors Discover

Visitors can explore how the parts of a settlement relate to one another: where people live, how supplies move, and why energy, water and food matter. Moving a model changes the layout in front of them, making it possible to discuss routes, space and the consequences of design decisions.

Explore the Content

  • A growing Mars settlement: habitat structures and supporting infrastructure share one terrain surface.
  • Resources and connections: the preview introduces energy, water and food as parts of colony life.
  • A responsive landscape: digital vehicles reroute when an object interrupts their path.

Key Features

  • Physical models used alongside digital content.
  • A terrain table that gives the group a shared view of the settlement.
  • Animated vehicle movement responsive to the layout.
  • A large accompanying Mars display in the illustrated configuration.

Who It’s For and Where It Fits

A strong fit for science centers, space galleries and family discovery centers looking for a collaborative building activity. Children and adults can discuss a layout together while one visitor moves a model. Facilitated school visits can use the table as a starting point for questions about living beyond Earth.

Exhibit Configurations and Customization

The illustrated configuration pairs a terrain table and physical models with a separate Mars display. Table layout, model provision and the surrounding display arrangement should be specified together. Requests for different scenery, cabinetry or interface language need a separate project assessment.

Space and Installation Requirements

  • Allow access around the table for reaching, viewing and rearranging models, with a clear route for passing visitors.
  • Coordinate the digital surface with room lighting; keep strong reflections and direct sunlight away from the active area.
  • Plan power, concealed cable routes and service access for the table and display. Final dimensions, electrical load, mounting, networking and ventilation depend on the agreed equipment.

What’s Included

Our AR Mars Colony experience brings together colony software, a terrain table and physical settlement models. We define the software selection and equipment package with you for the proposed installation. Your project proposal sets out the supplied components, installation and training scope, and any consumables or ongoing services. Every exhibit includes a one-year standard warranty.

Application Examples

  • Science museums: connect a Mars gallery with a physical settlement-planning activity.
  • Children’s museums: offer a table around which families can compare ideas and build together.
  • Space learning centers: support facilitated discussions about resources and infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this use physical models?

Yes. The terrain-table experience combines movable models with digital activity on the surface.

What happens when the layout changes?

The preview shows digital vehicles changing routes when a newly placed object blocks their path.

Is the surrounding room part of the exhibit?

The imagery shows a themed setting. Room graphics, finishes and additional displays need to be identified separately in the project scope.

How much space should we allow?

Plan for the table, its equipment and circulation around the activity. The final layout should be based on the selected table and the venue’s visitor routes.
